Fix for the missing favicons on the Dashboard

Customers reported that suddenly the favicons of quite a few websites got disappeared on the Dashboard and the default globe icons were displayed instead. Bookmark Ninja uses a Google service to obtain the favicons of the website. After investigating the issue it turned out that Google has made some changes in the API of the service. We have made the necessary adjustments in the code, the favicons are back in today's update.

    1. If you still find a website whose favicon is not displayed please try the following:
      - If it's url is "https://www.domain.com" then change it to "https://domain.com".
      - If it's url is "https://domain.com" then change it to "https://www.domain.com".
In some cases adding or removing "www" may help to display the favicons properly.

It can also be that the favicon of a website is not properly configured and Google can't scan it.

Google keeps impriving this service. I've checked other similar services they are not as good as the one that Google provides.

  2. Thanks for responding. Unfortunately adding or removing www had no affect. Most of the sites had favicons before the changes Google made.

    1. Thanks for the update, Steve. Please send me a few of the links that don't have the favicons (email: support@bookmarkninja.com). I would like to look into them, I might be able to come up with some workaround.
